Alan & Tywonn have been on a mission to reach Africa for some time now. The next question would be…why a mission to reach Africa? Well, one of the reasons we are so passionate about Africa is because Alan would like to be a counselor to missionaries located in Africa. Patrick Johnstone and Jason Mandryk in their book, Operation World, state that there are more than 17,500 missionaries doing missions in Africa. That means that there is a great need to provide counseling services to missionaries who encounter such things on a daily basis as depression, trauma, grief, stress and burnout, and adjustment problems. Without a counselor located in Africa, the missionary or missionary kid who experiences these issues would have to travel back to the United States or to Europe to get counseling. That is why Alan is looking to birth a counseling center in Cameroon designed to provide therapy for missionaries, missionary kids, and expatriates in the Central Africa region.

Another reason Tywonn and Alan are fanatical about Africa is because this is where Tywonn can begin to use her nursing gifts in an African setting. As many of you know, there is a rampant spread of the AIDS epidemic across all of Africa. This disease was killing approximately 6,000 people per day in 1999. There is no telling what that number has risen to now. Not only does Tywonn have a heart for healing the sick, but also for teaching Africans how to be trained medical professionals. There are many medical centers located in and around the capital of Cameroon (Yaounde) where Tywonn is hoping to plug in and use her nursing skills as God sees fit.

We truly believe that God is a great and powerful God and that we are but small, insignificant creatures. But God has seen fit to use us in His plan. It is our hope that He works in spite of us as we venture into Africa to share the gifts He has blessed us with.

Journey with us as we go. Let us be your eyes, ears, and voice in Africa."
